ProVia Windows Warranty: What's Covered and What's Not

Joe Dvorak | Modern Exterior Systems • March 21, 2026

One of the most common questions we get when homeowners are considering ProVia windows is: what does the warranty actually cover? It's a smart question. A warranty is only as good as what's behind it, and the fine print matters — especially on an investment that should last 25–30+ years.

ProVia offers one of the strongest window warranties in the industry. But there are nuances worth understanding before you buy — and definitely before you ever need to file a claim. This guide breaks down exactly what's covered, what's not, and how the process works.

ProVia's Lifetime Limited Warranty: What It Covers

ProVia offers a lifetime limited warranty on their vinyl window products (both the Endure and Aspect lines). "Lifetime" means the warranty lasts for as long as the original purchaser owns the home. Here's what's covered:

Vinyl frames and sashes: ProVia warrants their vinyl components against peeling, flaking, blistering, corroding, and pitting under normal use. This is a lifetime coverage for the original owner. Vinyl doesn't rot, rust, or need painting, so frame failures are rare — but if they happen, you're covered.

Insulated glass seal (IGU): This is the most important warranty component. The insulated glass unit is the sealed space between the two panes of glass, filled with argon gas for insulation. If that seal fails, moisture gets between the panes and you see fog or condensation that can't be wiped away. ProVia warrants against seal failure for 20 years on the Endure line and the lifetime of original ownership. This is industry-leading coverage.

Hardware: Locks, balances, operators, and other moving parts are covered against defects in materials and workmanship. This is typically a 10-year coverage. Hardware is the most likely component to need eventual replacement, so this coverage matters.

Screens: Screens are warranted against defects for a limited period (typically 1–3 years). This covers manufacturing defects, not wear and tear from normal use.

Glass breakage: ProVia offers accidental glass breakage coverage on certain product lines — meaning if a baseball or hailstone breaks your window glass, the replacement glass is covered. This is a standout feature that most competitors don't offer. Check your specific product documentation for details.

What's NOT Covered

No warranty covers everything, and understanding the exclusions prevents frustration later. Common exclusions in ProVia's warranty include:

Improper installation: The warranty covers the product, not the installation. If windows are installed incorrectly and that causes problems, the manufacturer warranty won't help — that falls on your installer's workmanship warranty. This is why choosing a qualified, certified installer matters enormously.

Normal wear and tear: Hardware that wears out from normal use over many years, weatherstripping that compresses over time, and cosmetic changes from UV exposure are generally not covered.

Acts of God: Damage from hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and other extreme events isn't covered by the manufacturer warranty. That's what your homeowner's insurance is for.

Improper maintenance or modification: If you modify the windows, use harsh chemicals on the vinyl, or fail to maintain them per ProVia's guidelines, coverage can be voided.

Condensation on the glass surface: This is an important distinction. Interior condensation (moisture on the inside surface of the glass) is a humidity issue in your home, not a window defect. Condensation between the panes (inside the IGU) IS a defect and IS covered. Many homeowners confuse the two.

How Warranty Transfers Work

This matters if you're planning to sell your home someday — which most people are, even if it's years away.

ProVia's warranty is transferable to subsequent homeowners, but with modifications. The second owner typically receives a prorated warranty rather than full lifetime coverage. The specific terms vary by product line, so check your warranty documentation for details.

Having a transferable warranty adds real value when selling your home. Buyers appreciate knowing the windows are backed by a manufacturer warranty, and it can be a selling point in negotiations. Keep your purchase documentation, warranty registration, and installation records — you'll want them when the time comes.

How to File a Warranty Claim

If you believe you have a warranty issue, the process is straightforward:

Step 1: Contact your installer first. A certified ProVia dealer/installer (like Modern Exterior Systems) can assess the issue and determine if it's a warranty claim or something else. Many issues that look like product defects turn out to be installation adjustments, hardware wear, or environmental factors.

Step 2: If it's a product issue, your installer initiates the claim with ProVia on your behalf. You'll need your purchase date, order information, and photos of the issue.

Step 3: ProVia reviews the claim and authorizes the replacement part or glass unit. Turnaround varies but is typically 2–4 weeks for replacement parts.

Step 4: Your installer performs the repair or replacement. Under warranty, the replacement product is provided at no cost. Labor for the repair may or may not be covered depending on the specific warranty terms and when the issue occurs.

Our Workmanship Warranty

The manufacturer warranty covers the product. But what about the installation? At Modern Exterior Systems, we provide our own workmanship warranty that covers the installation itself. If a problem stems from how the window was installed — improper flashing, shimming, sealing, or insulating — that's on us, and we'll fix it.

This is why it matters who installs your windows. The best product in the world underperforms if it's installed wrong, and a product warranty won't cover installation errors. Make sure your installer backs their work with a separate workmanship guarantee.

Bottom Line

ProVia's warranty is among the best in the window industry — particularly the insulated glass seal coverage and the accidental glass breakage option. The key takeaway: register your warranty, keep your documentation, and choose a certified installer who stands behind their own work.
